This unique wine comes from Valais, the main wine growing region in Switzerland. Dôle is a blend of Pinot Noir (90%) and Gamay (10%) grown in a high mountain environment of shallow limestone soils. "Père Mayor" is named for the monk who originally planted the vineyard. This light red pairs great with shellfish, cheese (try gruyere!) and is great alone as an aperitif. 12.5% abv.
Appearance: Clear, light ruby red.
Nose: Primary: cherry, strawberry. Secondary: spices, red pepper, mint.
Mouth: Dry with balanced acidity. Light for a red wine, Pinot flavors dominate including ripe cherry and herbs. Gamay adds freshness.
